What do you love about Battle?
I love being surrounded by people who share the same love and passion for both the Filipino culture and the performing arts!

What is your favorite Battle memory?
My favorite memories are actually from every year I have performed at BOTB. The feeling when you stand on stage right before you start and the feeling when you leave the stage are things that you can only feel at Battle of the Bamboo.

What do you love about Battle?
Growing up, tinikling was the only cultural dance that I knew of. I was rarely exposed to other dances and seeing various organizations portray these dances is the beauty of Battle! Schools around the country and thousands of friends and families come together for one night to celebrate and educate the community about our culture! Battle will forever be a tradition for future generations of Filipino-Americans!

What is your favorite Battle memory?
My favorite memory of Battle has to either be performing with FIA’Liwan in 2019 or filming the showcase last year with our council and Emcees! I’m very excited to finally be back in-person this year!

What do you love about Battle?
I love the collective efforts of all organizations to represent the spirit of our culture through dances, bringing a new understanding of the stories that have shaped our backgrounds in ways that you can’t experience through other means.

What is your favorite Battle memory?
It’s a tie between the time I ended up dancing with an injured foot in my senior year of high school, and being one of the Principal Coordinators of Battle of the Bamboo in 2020, seeing a whole year of work culminate into an event that my council and I had worked on.

I love how Battle brings people together to celebrate the Filipino culture and love watching the performances. It’s fun to see how the schools portray all the different stories and execute the dances.

What is your favorite Battle memory?
My favorite Battle memory is either being Principal Coordinator in 2018 or performing and being an advisor in 2019 because I love helping and being involved in event planning and I have such a deeply rooted love for cultural dance. <3

What do you love about Battle?
I love the craftsmanship and the beautiful performances that people put on for Battle. The stress of Battle is no joke but the pay-off is so worth it and it brings so many people together!

What is your favorite Battle memory?
My favorite Battle memory is from Battle 2020, I spent the entirety of FIA Cultural’s performance under the stage since I was helping with costume changes and such and I swear I thought the stage was gonna crush me, it was like a thunderstorm and earthquake all in one. It was a bit scary but was way more exciting and thrilling, especially hearing the audience’s reactions while down there!

What do you love about Battle?
I love how we got so many Filipinos from all over the Midwest come all the way to Chicago to not just support their participating schools, but to learn more about our culture. On top of that, it’s amazing to see the work that has been put in this whole year and see it all in the tears, dances and one performance!

What is your favorite Battle memory?
Favorite Battle memory might have to be choreographing my first dance for my old high school Filipino club, Kapit Bayan. Such a joy to see all of the dancer’s hard work put on the stage and it felt rewarding how happy they were after!

What is your favorite Battle memory?
My favorite Battle memory was being a flower girl for FIA Cultural’s 2020 performance. The feeling of excitement from walking onto stage and performing has to be my favorite Battle memory yet! It was also my first time performing and attending Battle so this day was super special to me!

What do you love about Battle?
Performing; there’s nothing quite like the adrenaline rush of performing in front of hundreds and leaving your heart on the stage and. It’s a privilege to be able to tell a story through cultural dance.

What is your favorite Battle memory?
All the times I competed with my old high school’s Filipino club, Isang Hakbang. During Battle 2019, I especially remember playing a monster bird that crawled and climbed onto the stage.

My favorite battle memory is my first battle performance in 2019, when I performed with Isang Hakbang from Northside College Prep. The adrenaline rush of your first battle is insane, and it will always be a fond memory I will always cherish.
